At the recent Nordic Conference on Future Health, Chris Foley PhD, our Managing Director and Chief Scientist, was a distinguished guest speaker at Olink’s workshop titled Navigating the UKB Plasma Proteomics Data to Explore Protein Variability, Disease Risk Scores, and Proteogenomic Associations. This workshop focused on the UK Biobank Pharma Proteomics Project (UKB-PPP), which stands as the largest proteomics study globally, offering unprecedented opportunities for researchers to delve into protein-disease associations.

During the workshop, Chris Foley shared his expertise on how researchers can effectively utilise UKB-PPP data to identify critical protein-disease risk associations. The session highlighted innovative methods for integrating proteomics data with genomic insights, demonstrating the practical applications of UKB-PPP in advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms.

  • Strategies for working with UKB-PPP data in the context of genomics and proteomics, including detailed examples of data mining, validation, and integration
  • The benefits of using freely available resources in Olink Insight to enhance study design and validation. This includes access to extensive protein-disease risk associations, protein quantitative trait loci (pQTLs) derived from UKB-PPP, and protein normal ranges
  • Approaches to leveraging these resources to improve research outcomes and disease risk predictions
