Peter Scanlon, Lead Engineer at BioXcelerate, holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Science from Oxford University. His diverse experience spans bioinformatics and robotics, particularly in modelling and machine learning throughout the full lifecycle of data-driven methods.
Prior to joining BioXcelerate, Peter developed object detection and classification models for autonomous underwater robots. He built robust training, evaluation and inference pipelines to ensure high-quality model delivery, working with complex, real-world data in challenging environments where reliability and precision were critical.
Peter specialises in cloud infrastructure design and implementation within the data space. He excels at facilitating conversations within large organisations, helping them overcome infrastructure challenges and drive innovative business process changes. He works closely with stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams to translate complex requirements into scalable, practical solutions.
At BioXcelerate, Peter has significantly advanced the maturity of products like Switchstep Impmap and Pleiograph. He has also been instrumental in setting and evolving software delivery practices and integrating these products into diverse client environments. His work has supported the development of more robust, production-ready systems, enabling clients to deploy and scale data-driven solutions with greater confidence.
